Today, my daughter and I attended the service and memorial for local rancher and cattlewoman, Nancy Williams. She was one of the most courageous, visionary, undaunted and driven women this valley has ever known, or will know. As the song goes, Nancy was country before country was cool. She was sassy, classy and had the innate talent of always being a lady, even when in dirty jeans and boots. Nancy was beautiful inside and out even with hay in her hair zooming up on an ATV or a well trained horse. She taught a lot of us cowgirls about standing behind your convictions and being equal in a mans world (the cattle world is a mans world). She showed everyone that first and foremost to love, nurture and protect your family as if its the most important thing in the world, because it is. Our hearts and prayers are with the Williams family during these sad days ahead.
