As an avid listener of Podcasts, my least favorite part is that the good ones, or maybe all of them, are monetized. You know, when the narrator takes 30 seconds out of your life and talks about a sponsored product or service which you can get a discount on if you mention the podcast name. The podcast owner gets paid to tell you about these products and services. Or visually there pop ads or a side bar with ads. That's how you can monetize your outreach by working ads into your social media, podcast or blog. I'm not knocking it. Its a way to make money for those dedicated enough to do something like this. I could monetize this blog, and have been asked to over the years but I have always chosen to leave it ad free. Based on how much I detest being marketed to myself, subliminally or otherwise, I'm just not going to do that to you readers out there. So read on, free of ads. Always and forever.
P.S. My favorite podcasts are School of Greatness with Lewis Howes, Wall Street Journal Minute Briefing and Money Briefing, The Daily from the New York Times and NPR Up First. If you listen to podcasts, what are your favorites? I'm always interested in learning about new ones. You can learn cool new stuff instead of listening to music or just dead space. It makes your time behind the wheel an investment in yourself instead of a waste of time. That being said, there tons of non learning podcasts too! Murder mysteries, ghost stories, narrated books and more. The sky is the limit with podcasts. I'd love to hear about your favorites!
