The county has finally come out with their Draft EIR Hoop Structures Ordinance Amendment. You can read the 385 page document by following this link http://longrange.sbcountyplanning.org/programs/Hoop%20Structures/Hoops.php. As they point out in the report, currently we see mostly raspberry, blackberry and some strawberry plantings in hoop houses as these temporary structures extend the growing season for certain crops.  Seems harmless enough and as a supporter of farmers producing food, I'm 100% supportive. I'm only sorry putting up hoop houses will now require a permit and be harder to do for farmers who already have a million "hoops" to jump through just to grow food for us. As the report also points out, the hoop houses can also be used for growing cannabis. Hoop houses are here to stay which is a bummer for those out there that object to them and a good thing for those in the agricultural community who depend on them for their livelihood. Interested parties can still comment on the subject. From an email I received today: How to comment: Please send written comments to Julie L. Harris, Senior Planner, Planning and Development Department, 123 East Anapamu Street, Santa Barbara, CA, 93101 or via email to: hoopstructures@countyofsb.org.All written comments must be received by Thursday, March 15, 2018, 5:00 P.M. Sold

Bell Street Farms, Los Alamos (restaurant real estate and business opportunity) Listed at $1,100,000 and sold final for 845K. I'll miss the prior owner, Jamie. He is a super cool guy who put an edgy forward looking spin on downtown Los Alamos. A man of true vision with an added layer of "can get it done" too.  Always a smile and he is a darn good hugger as well. If you read this Jamie, know you will be missed. Safe travels wherever you go.
