Happy New Year to you all. Here is a shout out to all my chicken loving "peeps" out there. To clarify ... not loving to eat them, loving or wanting to keep them! For those of you who are wanting to embark on the very rewarding adventure of keeping chickens, I highly recommend finding the time to visit Dare 2 Dream Farms in Lompoc on their next "raising chickens 101" class coming up on February 17th at 9:30. Thats a Saturday so even you folks far away can participate. This Beginners Backyard Chicken Class will absolutely fill up so I'd click the button and sign up asap if I were you. Dare 2 Dream farm is locally famous for their free range, natural and healthy lifestyle chicken farm where they produce some of the best eggs possible to find on the central coast. They are also some of the most expensive eggs but personally I find them worth the extra money because I know where they come from and the good care the chickens receive (you can buy them at New Frontiers Market in Solvang). Dare 2 Dream also sells chicks from time to time. I have personally found the staff to be amazinginly helpful when I have had questions about my own chickens. This is a 3 hour class that will teach you everything you need to know about raising, keeping and managing your chickens from little peeps to full adults. It seems simple but believe me, there are all kinds of ways you can make your chickens uphappy or even shorten their lives. This should be a really fun class in a beautiful and relaxing place. You can even book a vacation stay there, thats how nice it is and there are other classes occasionally you can take as well. Sign up on their email list for future updates. Adult tickets are $35. Trust me, it will be worth every penny. Click here for their website and then click here for the class info.
