Its the weekend! Still can't get through Santa Barbara and apparently there is no firm date when that might change. There was talk of Monday but that apparently is not happening (so I hear anyway). Its really an odd feeling driving through Santa Barbara on the 101 with so little traffic. Reminds me of when I moved to Santa Barbara in the 70's because the traffic is about the same (before there were so many of us). Many of you will remember the long stop light right on the 101 freeway where State Street met the freeway. Can you imagine a stop light on the 101 these days? Spent many a minute as a kid waiting at that light in my parents car. I found this old article from 1988 when that stoplight and the others were removed. Click here for the short article. Long time ago but I still remember it. My dad owned Santa Barbara Datsun (later Nissan) back in the day. I dug up this old commercial from 1985 when we owned the dealership. Click here to see the old commercial on You Tube. I remember that guy in the commercial very well. Gene Price. It was a close knit family of employees. In fact, I had a Z car much like the one in this commercial when I was about 17 or so. My dad at 80 now is retired from the car business but still working to this day as a Realtor down in the desert. You can see his website and call him up if a move from anywhere to the Palm Springs/La Quinta/Indio/Coachella Valley area is in your future by visiting my dad at www.RichardCusolito.com. Cars and houses have a lot of parallels. Finding the right fit, fulfilling dreams, making sure the customer is happy with their purchase. My dad was an unusual sort of dealership owner. He demanded a lot from his people in terms of integrity, professionalism and personal service. All his sales people wore a suit and they all had a flower in their buttonhole. He set a standard we sadly don't see much of anymore. Anyway, enough of my walk down memory lane. I'm around this weekend if you need me. My listing at 545 Meadow View in Buellton priced at $649,000 will be open 2 to 4 on Sunday where you'll meet Rhoda Johnson (one of my former students) holding that open. This is a sweet little property with big views. Really the best buy on the market in the affordable sector. See it!
I'll be back here Monday. In the meantime, see your week ending rates here from Guy Rivera at Guarantee Mortgage. He says "Rates have gone up a bit but still look great and are just above historic lows". Click here for his link. You can apply for a loan online at http://guaranteemortgage.com/agents/guy-rivera/. Have a good one!
1525 Dove Meadow, Solvang (2/2 plus 1/1 guest house on 9.98 acres) $1,495,000 Love, love, love this one! Great location in this sequestered but convenient little enclave. Dead end street in a little traveled part of the valley means no traffic. In fact, if you don't know this area is here, you have likely never been on this street. Large parcels abound with a mix of casual and upscale homes with many millions for some properties being a price tag not outside reality. A petite main house and guest house are really perfect for a lot of people with expansion being a definite possibility. This parcel and this area are definitely an opportunity to live the valley lifestyle large and in charge or keep it simple and be anonymous. Up to you. Centrally located and close to everthing, El Rancho is maybe 5 minutes away yet privacy is yours for the asking. Ballard school district is a plus for your own ease or that of your future buyer on resale. Really a special offering that should be on your short list.
Returning to Market
2058 Adobe Canyon, Solvang (3/2 on 10 acres) $1,185,000 This sweet thing is back for your consideration. Lots of people lamented its quick exit off the market before but now you have a second chance at this property with so much potential. Sited in one of the most desirable locations in the valley, it is really a property to see if location is important to you (as it should be to everyone FYI). This is one of those places where you can let your imagination go a little crazy and its all possible. 10 acres with 5 acre zoning with private well on site. Love it as is or build more on this view parcel. Another ultra private location single digit minutes from everything.
1229 Camino San Carlos, Buellton (5/3 on 1 acre) Listed at 799K and sold final for 770K. A really unusual property. I adored the kitchen designed for a professional chef.
1475 Edison, Santa Ynez (3/3 on 9.8 acres) Listed at $2,395,000 and sold final for $2,335,000.
