7/17/17 .... that's a pretty unusual date.
Talk about unusual. Whereas it is highly irregular to have inherited a piece of real estate and then not bothered to even go see it or pay any bills for 13 years, this LA Times article is a very good reminder of how squatters can take your property and make your life hell in the process. Forged deeds are an ongoing problem for title companies and counties alike. Squatters are everywhere and some of them are very smart. We aren't talking vagrants here. We are talking seasoned, calculating crooks. Be on the look out for yourself or if a property near you that has been vacant for a while suddenly becomes occupied, you might start asking questions or run it by a Realtor and see what they know. We have to watch each others backs with this kind of nefarious activity. Click here for the LA Times Article.
