Another amazing Friday and weekend is here. Hoping the Whittier fire gets under control with the breezes we are having not making it any easier for the brave men and women who are out there trying to tame the beast. A big shout out to to our firefighters, LEO's, paramedics and everyone else fighting this fire and keeping those in its path safe. I've been through loosing a house in a fire (Painted Cave fire 1990). Its a whole lot of crazy, months of trying to figure out how to get back to your normal life and years of dealing with rebuilding. As of this writing, we don't have a lot of structure loss but current evacuations are in populated areas of Goleta, Paradise, Cielo and surrounding areas. From the valley it looks pretty awful but in reality is pretty far away so far. Winds are picking up as I am writing this. The best fire coverage I have seen is at www.keyt.com with current evacuation information and some good Sheriff dash cam video footage (check it out at about minute 2:19).
One of my past students and fellow agents Rhoda Johnson will be holding 203 Menlo Drive in Buellton open on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00. If you haven't seen it before, or even if you have, swing on by and check it out.
